CHS Alliance meets with members and hosts workshop on the CHS in Zimbabwe

On 25-26 September humanitarian practitioners from ADRA, ActionAid, GOAL, HEKS/EPER (Swiss Church Aid) and Terre des Hommes Italy participated in a workshop on the Core Humanitarian Standard on Quality and Accountabiltiy (CHS) in Harare, Zimbabwe. The workshop was facilitated by Estery Madavo, of Welthungherhilfe, and Karen Glisson, CHS Alliance's Membership Services Manager. 

Gabriella Prandini, GOAL's Country Director in Zimbabwe, shared their experience in raising crisis-affected people's and communities' awaresness about their rights and entitlements, as well as humanitarian workers' code of conduct in Ethiopia and Zimbabwe.   

On 24 September representatives of ADRA, Caritas, GOAL, Tearfund, Terre des Hommes Italy and Tree of Life Trust got an update about the application of the CHS on the ground, the CHS verification scheme and the CHS Alliance. Attendees discussed the potential for collective work on the CHS and its translation into the local languages. They also got into an in-depth discussion on complaints handling in the Zimbabwean context.
