Announcing our newly elected Board members
Thank you to all the candidates who stood in this year’s elections.
We are pleased to announce the newest members of the CHS Alliance Board.
Voting has now concluded and we are delighted to welcome three exceptional professionals to the CHS Alliance Governing Board: Nour Jarrouj, Nancy Etté and Marie-Claire Dejean-Pannier. Their collective expertise and lived experience will strengthen our oversight, governance and commitment to the Core Humanitarian Standard.
Our sincere thanks to all candidates, who each demonstrated a strong commitment to accountability, quality, and people-centred humanitarian action. Thank you to to our members for their thoughtful consideration of the candidates and active participation in the voting process over the past 10 days.
These three new Board members complete a strategic alignment with our Statutes and governance needs. The 2025 elections were structured to fill three critical skill-sets:
- A person directly affected by humanitarian crisis (Independent) — now fulfilled by Nour Jarrouj.
- Financial expertise (Independent or member) — now fulfilled by Nancy Etté.
- HR / Organisational Development / People Management (Member only) — now fulfilled by Marie-Claire Dejean-Pannier.
We look forward to working with Nour, Nancy and Marie-Claire as they join us to further strengthen the CHS Alliance’s leadership.
Find out more about our newest Board members:
Nour Jarrouj – Independent Board Member (Person Affected by a Humanitarian Crisis)
Nour Jarrouj brings a deeply personal and professional perspective to our Board. In her motivation statement she said:
“I believe that the people with lived experience of humanitarian crisis need to be included in any relevant decision making that affects their lives. As a Syrian I survived a deadly war in Syria for 8 years before I became a refugee. People affected by crisis are rarely involved in decisions that addresses their needs and build on their existing capacities”.
In her current role as Senior Engagement & Advocacy Manager at the Moving Minds Alliance, Nour has more than a decade of experience in the humanitarian and development sector, including work with local NGOs, multilateral agencies and the private sector. Nour will serve as our Board member representing the “Person Affected by a Humanitarian Crisis” in our governance structure.
Nancy Etté – Independent Board Member (Finance)
We are pleased to welcome Nancy Etté as our new independent Board member specialising in finance. With solid experience in governance and financial oversight, Nancy joins us from Geneva, where she has been active in humanitarian finance and accountability.
She explained, “I am motivated by a strong commitment to accountability and good governance. I have seen how vital strong financial stewardship and governance are to sustaining the mission of the CHS Alliance . I would like to give back in a small but meaningful way to the global humanitarian community for which I feel deep admiration and connection.”
She has previously worked closely with our Finance, Risk & Audit Committee (FRAC) and brings to the Board a strong commitment to transparency, accountability and good governance. In her role on the Board, Nancy will contribute to guiding our financial direction, safeguarding our resources, and enhancing the financial resilience of the Alliance.
Marie-Claire Dejean-Pannier – Board Member (HR / Organisational Development)

Marie-Claire Dejean-Pannier joins the Board as the representative with expertise in human resources, organisational development and people management. In her capacity as Head of International HR Partnering (Compensation & Benefits) at the Danish Refugee Council (DRC), Marie-Claire has led reward reforms, strengthened safeguarding frameworks and built leadership capacity across more than 40 countries.
Marie-Claire states, “I believe that effective humanitarian action depends on how we support, equip, and lead our people. I can contribute a practical perspective on embedding CHS principles in policies, culture, and leadership. Joining the Board allows me to bring my experience to the Alliance, advancing its mission and supporting the sector to be more accountable and people-centred.”
Marie-Claire will lead our focus on people, culture and organisational excellence, ensuring that our internal governance and member-engagement reflect the values we promote externally.
Please join us in congratulating our newest Board members, as they begin their new roles.
