Aim of the organisation

SOS Children’s Villages International (SOS CVI) is the world’s largest non-governmental organization focused on supporting children and young people without parental care or at risk of losing it. Next to long-term service provision and development cooperation, SOS CVI and its member associations also implement humanitarian projects to support our target group during and after disaster or crisis. SOS Children’s Villages has a strategic objective for its humanitarian programs, to grow programme quality and increase capacity to implement large-scale, effective child protection programs before, during and after emergencies. Some of the priorities within this strategic objective are to (1) integrate inter-agency Minimum Standards, (2) build programs that work for children in emergencies based on evidence/data and (3) grow sustainable expertise in humanitarian response.

Organisation activities

SOS CVI humanitarian program is focusing on child protection in humanitarian action and active in the following fields: group activities for child well-being, preserving family unity, interim alternative care, education in emergencies, and mental health and psychosocial support. Humanitarian projects target children who are unaccompanied or separated following an emergency and children affected by an emergency or who are at risk of losing parental care.
