CHS Guidance Notes and Indicators - Khmer

Centre of excellence – duty of care. An executive summary of the project report

The CHS Alliance commissioned a piece of work, funded by the Department for International Developments (DFID) extended Programme Partnership Agreement (PPA), to support the development of the CHS Alliance Centres of Excellence on Duty of Care to strengthen quality, accountability and people management in members programmes and in management practice. This document is the executive summary of the report.

Social Auditing In Central America GOAL (Honduras)

In Central America, GOAL established two Social Audit Committees in remote areas of Honduras and Nicaragua. The purpose was to follow up on the compliance by municipal and regional authorities on agreed measures. Social Audit is a powerful means to promote a Do No Harm approach. In addition, there are also practical benefits to the NGO of an additional level of project oversight which might be difficult to otherwise sustain, due to the high costs and access difficulties.

Accountability in conflict, CRM and listening approach - lessons learnt- GOAL (Ukraine)

GOAL operated in Ukraine from May 2015 to January 2017 providing multi-purpose cash assistance to over 7,500 people in GCAs living within a few kilometres of the frontline. In order to appropriately target vulnerability and enable a rapid response to requests for assistance, a robust CRM function with skilled staff was required. This case study discusses the implementation of a complaints hotline which particularly focused on the human element of the system.

Shifting the Power: localisation in action

Gana Unnayan Kendra (GUK), a community-led development organisation combating poverty in Bangladesh, has recently joined CHS Alliance. In the last years Shifting the Power, a project implemented by Start Network, has been aiming to shift the balance of power towards locally led humanitarian response. Within this framework, Christian Aid has supported GUK to apply the Core Humanitarian Standard (CHS) and join CHS Alliance.
