CHS Alliance elects new Vice-Chair and two Board members
On 10th December the CHS Alliance announced the results of its Board elections, which took place electronically from 3rd to 7th December, at a webinar.
The new Vice-Chair is Shama Mall, Deputy-Director of Community World Service Asia (CWSA). In addition, the member organisations of the CHS Alliance elected two new Board members, namely Allan Calma, Regional Program Coordinator at The Lutheran World Federation, and Makena Mwobobia, Executive Director at ActionAid International Kenya.
"It is important to look at the CHS and the quality and accountability of aid in general through women's perspectives," said Ms. Mwobobia, expressing her enthusiasm at joining the Board. Mr. Calma, who recently participed in a Learning Event organised by the CHS Alliance and the Disasters Emergency Committee (DEC) in London on 30 November, said that he was impressed with the sense of collective commitment to the CHS and that he is looking forward to help expanding the sphere of influence of the Standard at the global level.
Tanya Wood, Executive Director of the CHS Alliance, thanked member organisations for their commitment to the Core Humanitarian Standard on Quality and Accountability (CHS), highlighting that the Standard is an incredible driver to put the dignity of people affected by crisis at the centre of humanitarian aid. Robert Tickner, the President of the Board, called on key leaders and directors to make change happen across our organisations. "It takes determination and leadership to drive positive change," he said.
The newly appointed Board members are replacing Jules Frost and Bijay Kumar, whom the Alliance would like to warmly thank for their commitment to advancing the quality and accountability of humanitarian aid. The Board of the CHS Alliance consists of 17 members.
